Introduction

Hello my name is Lauren Turell, I am currently starting A2 Media. This is the blog where I will be posting all of my coursework for my Media A2 course, this will include research, planning, production, feedback and evaluation.

Last year I completed my first year of A level Media, my task was to first create a school magazine that would be used as a preliminary task; after this I had to create a music magazine. During the process of creating my music magazine I learnt the importance of research and asking opinions on what people think, I also found that it is important to plan as this gives a structure of what needs to be done and by when to help get things done. During the production process I found that it is helpful to update my blog with what I am doing and when so that I am able to show progression and development. In the final stages of completing my AS course work during feedback and evaluation I picked up points on how to progress and improve my work and performance in the future. In order to complete my AS coursework I had to learn to use programmes including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign and learn how to use a Digital SLR Camera.

This year for my Media A2 coursework I have been given the option to create either a music video or a film trailer. I decided after being told about the task that I would prefer to do a film trailer and not a music video; one of the reasons for this was having to perfect the lipsinging in the music video with the song I chose, I also felt that I would be able to perform better creating a film trailer as I am more interested in the varied types of film trailer genres and the conventions they use as apposed to a music video. I also decided quite early on that I did not want to create a horror trailer although this was recommended as a large percentage of people choose to create a horror trailer due to the conventions being easier to follow.
I am going to research further into the types of film genres and which I can use to base my film trailer off of; at this current point in time I am considering creating a Rom-Com trailer.
Part of this process is going to be editing the videos I filmed so that I am able to complete my film trailer. In order to gain an understanding of the programme I am going to be using to do this an to practise I have been set a task to complete a clip titled 'The Package'.
The package is a 2-5 minute clip where two people meet and exchange a package. For this task I worked with my friend Emily Brown where we set our package clip in a train station.
To edit the clip we used Windows Movie Maker and Adobe Premier.
I found this task useful as it allowed me to practise filming to meet a brief using a variety of shots and practise using the software.
