Every music video will fall into one of three categories. These types of music video include Performance, Narrative and Concept based videos.

A performance based video is focused on the performance of the person/s singing in the video. Throughout a performance video the singer/singers are shown on camera performing the song, in this type of video there is a set or have a very small variety of locations. Performance based videos are less expensive to produce as they are likely to not use multiple locations, props and effects due to the style and simplicity of the video. Performance music videos use a range a range of camera angles, this helps the performer to interact with the audience which makes them interested in the video.

Narrative based videos

A Concept based video uses a main theme and idea throughout the duration of the music video.
